Update

The herb garden is going well, though it had settled and everything had sunk into the old pond frame, this meant a few hours of digging out the herbs that survived the possum/insect attack and adding more soil, lucerne and mulch. The mint, thai mint and oregano love it here, the capscuim were just adjusting when they were attacked and are making a slow recovery, and the tomatoes didn't recover at all. The coriander is a bit slow, though I can't say its performing any worse or better in any other part of the garden.

After the capscuim/tomato episode, which I attributed to the possum, whatever it was gave the chilli bush a good munch too! Here is the de-foliaged chill plant- survived, but worse for wear.

I've been planting up the second mound, here's a photo taken showing the back of the 1st mound, and the 2nd mound....as you can see, the 2nd one is much smaller and all the seedlings are still getting established. I've noticed that a few seedlings on the right hand side (the low side) have died, and I think that is from lack of water as I haven't ever really watered that far-side ditch except when the green manure was getting established.

The passionfruit continues slowly on, but I guess it will next year that we enjoy its fruits, not this year. I've had no luck with the passionfruit seeds- maybe there is a trick to it.

The corn continues to power- check out this photo compared to the one I took a few weeks ago! There are small watermelon on all the vines- hope they are ready for christmas. Lots of green tomatoes on the vine, though nothing ripened.

Have planted (from seed) Pak Choy, Bak Choy and Dill- mostly inside the planter house as the lettuce there were struggling, so I dug out the old dirt, added mulch/soil/water saving crystals/blood and bone and then planted in the seed, which has some small shoots after just 3 days.
