Summer has been hot here and the mound is needing quite alot of water.
After a good rain I don't have to water for about 2-3 days, but there has been some real scorcher and the local Fire Brigade Chief was mentioning that we've received overall little rain this year so the ground is quite dry.
We burnt of the two big piles of yard rubbish (palm fronds, old branches etc) that we had- it was fun burning the pile at the front of the house as the kids all came out and roasted marshmallows and helped with hosing down the ground around the fire.
The tanks have run low on water again- probably cause there are 14-16 people staying in the house at the moment, so no matter how conservative we try to be with water- the showers, washing up and washing machine just go through it. I've had to top up the pool a bit too- I guess its heat and all the splashing and the pump makes an awful noise if the water level gets too low.
The eggplants are fruiting and its these lovely little eggplants. I prefer this size and we use several whole eggplants per meal and don't have any half cut ones on the fridge.
Last night we made a huge seafood stir-fry- all the fish and squid caught by us and nearly everything from the garden!
The only vegetable we've bought this year has been carrots, potatoes and an extra lettuce. Definately planting more of these next year.
