I've planted the suckers into the downside of the last mound- I had four suckers that I spaced about 2 metres apart.
The two smallest suckers survived the best, whereas one of the largest was brown, dry and dead after I returned from 10 days away. I simply cut off this dead plant near the base with a machete (my favourite garden tool) and within 24 hours it had sent out its own sucker, that is healthy and green.
